Divine Companion
One Lord, two lungs
✦
The Church of the first millennium breathed with two lungs: the Latin West and the Byzantine East. Same Lord, same Scriptures, same bread.
The Latin West
The rosary between the fingers. The Angelus at noon. The quiet order of the Roman rite.
The Byzantine East
The icon and the oil lamp. The Jesus Prayer on every breath: Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.
Divine Companion is built for both. A Catholic finds the rosary, the Angelus, the Roman calendar. An Orthodox finds the Jesus Prayer, the akathists, the feasts of Byzantium.
“That they all may be one.” — John 17:21
Nothing here argues about which lung matters more. Breathing does.
